Following his craftsmanship training, Dr.-Ing. Klaus Schaefers studied metallurgy at the Technical College of Duisburg as well as the Technical University of Berlin. After receiving his doctorate in metallurgy from the TU Berlin, he joined Badische Stahlwerke GmbH (steel works) in 1995 where he held various positions with increasing responsibilities. In 2001, Dr. Schaefers took over management of the Buderus Edelstahl GmbH steel works. From there, he joined the executive board of Lech Stahlwerke GmbH in 2007. In 2011, he transferred to head of Engineering and Technology at GMH Engineering GmbH and joined the leadership team of Benteler Steel/Tube GmbH in 2014. Since April 2018, Dr.-Ing. Klaus Schaefers is head of Production and Technology at Swiss Steel AG and a member of the executive board. In this function, he is responsible for the Steel Works and Rolling Mill as well as for QC, Projects, Production Planning and Laboratory.
